Hey guys,
I recently found an interesting bounty site called COfundOS (
www.cofundos.org) and I thought I'd try posting a car model project up there to speed up the creation of a totally free car model for this game.
You can read about how the COfundOS site works here:
http://www.cofundos.org/docs/crowdfunding.php
Here is my draft for the free model proposal:
Free race car model and textures for VDrift
- has to be an original idea (free from patent, trademark and copyright violations)
- has to be released at least under a GPLv2 compatible license (see
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/license-list.html)
- .blend format or any other free/non-proprietary format suitable for VDrift that we agree upon (needs to be easily editable with Free Software tools and exportable to the JOE format -
http://wiki.vdrift.net/JOE_format)
- the donors have to like the style/look of the final product
+- provide some concept art sketches before starting on the project so that the donors can agree on what they will be expecting in the final product.
- type of car (nascar, rally, f1, truck, GT) up to the designer/artist
- it should look like something that would be used in real life races
- suggested polygon count: ~3-10K.
- model the inside and the outside of the vehicle separately
- has to come with at least one skin texture
- suggested texture resolution: at least 512x512
This is an incomplete draft. I just noticed that it should be more detailed about dividing the model/textures as mentioned here:

Do you think it's a good idea to post this project on COfundOS?
I'd like your suggestions for this proposal and some ideas for numbers where I left question marks ("?").
