imac G5 pentium help

vdrift starts and runs fine until about the thrird or fourth lap regardless of the car or track and then the screen goes black and you get the error message telling you that it has quit unexpectedly.

This happens every single time and I don't know why.

I'm running a 2006 imac G5 with OS10.4, pentium chip 2GHZ etc...

Any help would be very much appreciated.

you know, you can't have an iMac G5 with an pentium chip ;-)

As for the crash reporter thing theres tonnes of stuff in there. What Ive posted here is about 1/20th of the entire lot if you want more then just say.

pentium chip/intel chip you know what I mean.

the iMac G5 contains no intel or pentium chip, and if you have a new intel iMac it isn't a G5 anymore can't have both at the same time...

the crash seems to be happening in the audio code...i don't think i will invest much time trying to fix it since there is a new sound engine already in place for the next vdrift version. btw does the crash happen with all the cars?

Thanks for the help. When does the new sound engine come out?

The game crashes randomly on pretty much any track. I have only tested about 40% of the cars so far but the computer seems to "like" the ford GT40 slightly more than anything else. I even got round the nurburgring before it crashed so that was about 8 minuets.

We're not sure (and usually never are sure) when the next release will be, but the new sound engine is in testing in VDrift SVN. There are still some problems with playback on PPC machines but as far as I know it doesn't crash because of sound problems. You could also try running vdrift with the sound off altogether. Just run with the -nosound option:
