Cars broken due to car parameters changes - NaN - 06-12-2010 I've checked in the new car parameters code(vdrift r2796, vdrift-data r595). I did this to force myself and others to switch to the new parameters as soon as possible. Non converted cars will fail to load. 360 and TC6 have been converted to the new parameters. Use them as templates. The new format has some temporary constraints: - the only available tire types are touring(from TC6) and competition(from 360), feel free to add new ones in carparts/tire folder - the only available tire texture is touring, new textures go into carparts/tire/textures folder - the only available rim is 5_spoke_m, zimluura is working on this - the wheel order is fixed: wheel-0 left front, wheel-1 right front, wheel-2 left rear, wheel-3 right rear(orientation parameter is non functional atm) Code: [wing-0] Please post the names of the cars you are converting in this thread. - NaN - 06-12-2010 3S and 350Z are wip. I'll use touring tire and 5_spoke_m rim for now. - NaN - 06-12-2010 AX2 and C7 are wip. - NaN - 06-13-2010 CO and CS wip. - NaN - 06-13-2010 CT and FE wip. - NaN - 06-13-2010 FF and G4 wip. - NaN - 06-13-2010 G-P34 and GT wip. - NaN - 06-15-2010 9 cars left, almost done. - NaN - 06-15-2010 Car parameters conversion finished. Next brake caliper, oem_wheel support. I've also been thinking about making the steering per wheel. But have to figure out how to deal with the "ackermann steering" first(toe out on turns). - joevenzon - 06-15-2010 This reminds me that brake light positions need to be added to the .car file, right now they're just drawn at the same place for every car. :-) - alex25 - 06-15-2010 NaN Wrote:Car parameters conversion finished. Next brake caliper, oem_wheel support. hmm, the new F1 car behaves very differently from the old one and it's impossible to drive. something is not right here (unless, of course, the purpose of the conversion was to come up with a random model that has nothing to do with the original one). --alex-- - NaN - 06-16-2010 Should be fixed in r2805. - alex25 - 06-16-2010 thanks. works much better now. --alex-- - alex25 - 06-18-2010 having played with this a little bit more i have to say i'm really impressed with how the cars handle now. the car is still a bit touchy when hitting the vertical surfaces (it goes airborne way to easily off the guardrails) but then maybe i shouldn't be touching the guardrails in the first place :-). thanks for the great job. --alex-- - portets - 06-18-2010 hey NaN, could you also go through and double the emergency break force when you add calipers and oem wheels? i was doing this a couple of months back but didn't get around to finishing it before the ".car" file format rewrite. the e-brake used to brake all four wheels and now it's fixed, so e-brake power got cut in half for all cars. and i totally agree with alex25. great work, the cars are starting to feel pretty nice. |
