I've tested this, it works fantastically! Everything is now much faster, running SCons, installing, and even loading tracks. Excellent!

Okay, I added this today. You get to go from over 2000 object files for neurburgring to one 6 mb file. Seems to load a bit faster.

it needed some endian changes to make it work on ppc, now everything works fine (commited)

The tool is called joepack and is included in SVN as a subdir of the track editor.

this one needs endian changes too, i believe, but this isn't that important since there has been no release of vdrift-trackeditor for mac anyway.

I'll check in the changes to VDrift once SVN finishes going nuts over the fact that I've made around 4000 file deletions.

is this the reason the .joe files have been removed from ruudskogen and road_atlanta, but not from neurburgring_nordschleife?

Subversion is so strange sometimes...anyway I re-removed the .joe files from svn at the path data/tracks/neurburgring_nordschleife/objects and they seem to be really gone this time. SVN r968

another idea for the todo list: consolidating the 3 splash screens (the library screen, the vdrift screen, and the black screen with the status text) into one single screen (perhaps the vdrift image with the library logos pasted into and the status text as overlay...

Hmmm, this might not be too hard, I'll see what I can come up with. Come to think of it, we really need a new VDrift splash screen because the current one is of a screen shot taken using the old track system.
