Head-Up Display Dashboard
This has no priority whatsoever, just playing with stuff.
A different color to get more contrast? How is the layout?
Also I thought about using gear number as shift indicator, change its color to red when shift point is reached. ABS, TCS, GAS indicators would also light up in yellow/red when active.

RE: Head-Up Display Dashboard
Looks very cool.
I would make it like 2 or 3 times bigger.
Maybe aligned ABS,TCS,GAS to bottom, not sure.
Well definitely some color would be nicer IMO. Maybe yellow, blue or red gauge, or even using car color.
How about some black transparent background or outline to be more visible on tracks.
Here is ours, somewhat modified gauge textures from TORCS

Nice
Definitely needs more contrast though. Since backgrounds can change, how about a black outline as with the map?
When adding color, try not to contrast green/red, because that's a pretty common visual handicap (or whatever the current PC term is, I can't keep up with that stuff).

RE: Head-Up Display Dashboard
Looks nice. I don't now how these are implemented, is it possible to make them flexible according to translation length? This way, we could make them big enough for everyone without getting big blank spaces for English.
Just to give you an example, the most natural translation into gd for "Best Lap" is "A' chuairt as fhearr".

I'd rather shorten the strings even more though. They are just noise once the player has memorized the location of the hud elements.
Something like this, would do as well I think:
TIME --:--.---
LAST
BEST
And the right info box could even be shortened to:
P 1/6
L 3/9
S 120 (now this one is special to vdrift, but should become obvious when playing)
But that is my pov. Once in master, people will be able to mod it, may come up with a better layout.

RE: Head-Up Display Dashboard
"Best" will still be "as fhearr" for me, so we will need to plan for some space in any case.
I take it that "last" will have the meaning of "previous", so I will only have to fit "roimhpe" there.
I was just thinking, do you have an implementation for tooltips? This way, we could abbreviate stuff at our leisure and spell out the whole words in tooltips.

There are tons of tooltips (maybe too many). Stuff like: "Choose the paint job for the car.", "Leave the menu and continue the game.", ...

Tacho decals (8, 10, 12, 16, 20) are done.
Speed decals (120, 160, 200, 240, 280, 320) are next.
