I actually was pretty terrible at driving games when I started the VDrift project, but all of the debugging and testing has made me pretty handy with a gamepad....

I still need to get a wheel, someday.

I had a really good lap, a 2:12.35 I think, but then I quit VDrift before finishing a lap and it cleared my best time. I'm going to make sure this is really a bug and then submit it to the tracker.

edit: Well I can't reproduce it now, it must have been when I killed VDrift when it was hanging (not VDrift's fault, Flash ran away with a ton of memory causing thrashing). Lesson learned: don't leave YouTube tabs open in Firefox for long periods of time while playing VDrift.

edit 2: Well it was sort of VDrift's fault. The swapping was triggered by apparent memory leaks in VDrift. Time for a new thread...

Hello, MADBAD!

Try this: http://www.aikx.de/vDrift/XS.car.txt

# no downforce!
# higher - realistic - Cw for an open car
# slower 260 ==> 230 Km/h
# new suspension geometry
# softer spring and damper
# new masses distribution
# higher engine inertia
# lower wheel inertia

I've give it a first try.
It is quite unplayable for me at the moment (I was using keyboard and traction control disabled)

It is impossible to remain on the street speeding in third gear Confusedhock:

Anyway i will give it a second try when I've some time.

This depends on the keyboard!

I´m not satisfied with this Version. I didn´t really understand, what geometry suspension-position and hinge describe. I am trying a hundred version.... getting curious behaviour of the car, sometimes.

My best time with the slower XS and modified suspension is 2:08,xx, but the car behaviour isn´t really good.

Eh, I put four laps up this evening testing my setup on a new machine here, and turned a 2:18 and something, but I've not messed with the xs or Estoril much. Give me some time. Now that I've got a desktop machine that will actually run it, expect me to either wipe the floor with the lot of you, or figure out what's wrong with the setup of this car, and make you all so much better you can't stand it.

...although, honestly, I think it's just piss poor driving on my part at this point - honestly, this thing drifts through the turns like a beaute when you let it.

Ok - completely stock out of svn XS I've got it down to 2:13.580, but I know what's giving me problems so I'm going to see if can't correct it with three little changes.

Completly stock svn: 2.08.544

I can go faster though. Did some mistakes.

PS: Is the strangely cut crane gnome-screenshot's fault?

This is very interestings, but much too tame. Lets up the ante a little shall we? Same track, CO instead of the XS.

I'll get things started with a less than perfect 1.50.305.

Better update that with a new time since I put a few laps in and got some braking zones down - 1:48.508
