The Ultimate track status thread.
By request, here's a list of all tracks tested, and issues found thus far. All testing was done with the AX2, other cars may produce other results - I don't actually know at this time what they may be. Collision engine being a little crazy means loss of control / way airborne over hits that shouldn't really be that violent, if I say it's nuts, then basically it won't nan, but you can never really regain control of the car. If you have any questions about this list, ask me.

Barcelona - no nan, no bumps, collision engine a little crazy.

brands hatch - no nan, a bump on the back straight, collision engine a little crazy.

Detroit - no nan, lots of little bumps, collision engine is nuts.

dijon - no nan, no bumps, collision engine is nuts.

Hokenheim - no nan, no bumps, collision is a little crazy

Imola - no nan, otherwise, this track is perfect.

Jarama - no nan, no bumps, collision engine is a little nuts.

Kyalami - no nan, bumps between turns two and three, collision engine is is nuts.

Laguna Seca - Does not nan on start up, bumps under the bridge/on the straight after the cork screw, collision engine is nuts, hitting the bumps on the straight causes a bad enough collision to cause a simulation error.

Le Mans - nan entering game:
EXCEPTION: /Users/laurencesanford/Projects/vdrift/tools/osx/../../src/3dmath.cpp, line 767: vertex length is negative..??: nan

nan

Magny-Cours - no nan, bumps near bridges before and after hairpin. Collision engine is a little nuts.

Monaco - Does not nan at start up, serious glitches going into the tunnel, and going around the pool complex. Collision engine is nuts - spinning into a wall at 30 mph caused a simulation error.

Monza - nan entering game:
EXCEPTION: /Users/laurencesanford/Projects/vdrift/tools/osx/../../src/3dmath.cpp, line 767: vertex length is negative..??: nan

nan

Mosport - No nan, bump in the apex of the double apex right hander leading on that that fantastic back straight. God I love this track. 1:24.464

Nord - this track has something horribly wrong with it. It doesn't nan, but all the car does is sort of wallow around and slide sideways and backwards.

Parkinglot - looks like this track starts out with you falling through the the air, and stays that way.

de Pau - Simulation engine error - the track was a little strange the whole time, but about half way around the car just flew off the track and never came back.

Road Atlanta - nan on startup.

Ruud - no nan on startup. Bumps in nearly every turn starting at turn one. Collision engine is completely nuts, simulation error on a 40 mph contact with the wall.

Spa - nan entering game:
EXCEPTION: /Users/Projects/vdrift/tools/osx/../../src/textures.cpp, line 489: Error loading texture file: /Applications/data/tracks/spa/objects/clouda.bmp.png (/Applications/data//Applications/data/tracks/spa/objects/clouda.bmp.png)

Weekend drive - no nan on startup. Horrid bump in the last set of turns as you're coming up the hill. Off track surfaces are so slippery that if you leave the track, it can be impossible to get back on track.

Zandvoort - Seemed fine, no strange bumps. May be the most finished track on the game.

Zandvoort: Missing texture in the second third of the track at the left side.

I made some changes recently to try to make the physics engine response a little less crazy. It seems to me to throw the car a bit less... what do you think?

When did you commit the changes (what svn?)

Tested with the latest, and so far, I think it's *very* good. I want to try a few of my less subtle tracks (detrioit maybe) and see if it's better there as well, but so far, on the tracks I've messed with, it's a lot better than it was.

did you take by any chance a look at the 3d model of Laguna Seca and the cork screw? I have the feeling that there're "holes" in the model

No, I test by driving on them, and my strength lies in tuning cars, but I agree that from the top of the corkscrew to the end of the straight the starts at the bridge, there's something horribly wrong with that track.

Hard to test tracks on r1813 Mac PPC iMac...

Cars doesn´t have accelleration, very slow.
Tracks look dark (16/32 bit).
AX2 is a nearly breakless car -)

Sorry...

neurburgring: completely broken. Heading is wrong at start position. Not possible to drive straight, always drifting.

Yep - it's already up there under Nord. The problem is the start position drops you between a wall and a row of collidable objects.

oh right... searched for nuerburgring, not for Nord(-schleife).

Thanks to Venzons bug fix Neuburgring is driveable. Heading at start is wrong, but that should be easy to fix.

Any chance you guys could go through this list again with R1844 (and data R76)? If any tracks don't work, let me know and I'll fix things.

I'll get a good look at it tonight before I start on the drift M3 stuff.
