Slow framerate for menu (and game)
Hello,

I just installed VDrift from the snv trunk. The mouse moves at a rate of about once per second on the main menu. I'm using RedHat Enterprise 4 and I have a Dual Core Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.00GHz, with dual Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX and I'm using the accelerated driver, NVRM version: NVIDIA Linux x86 Kernel Module 1.0-8762. So I don't think I'm lacking in MIPS. Any ideas.

While I'm asking questions, is vamos used for redering as well as the physics model? What is the word for adapting this game to work in an urban/city sim world? Feasible without major modification or a fork?

Thanks,
Jason

attached is the output from me starting the game and cliking on quit->yes.
and the log files is .vdrift/logs

I'm not sure what you mean by "are glxgears and glxinfo good?"

thanks!

type (in a terminal)
Code:
glxinfo
look for a line about direct rendering
it should say yes (my guess is no)
then
Code:
glxgears
if it works it sould output a frame rate (probably several thousand)
Any other 3d games work.
I don't think you can attach files, only links to files else where.

Yes it sounds like your 3D is not working and you're using software rendering. The commands clytle provided will tell you (more or less) if it's working or not. Our forum does not have a file attachment mod, so just paste the output into a forum post and put it inside tags.

Changing GLX settings
I have the same problem and I am not sure how to go about fixing it.
This is what I get in the console when I input glxinfo, and as you can see the rendering is NO.
How do I go about making that YES?

I seem to remember that it's distribution specific -- try checking on forums related to your distribution. It's a common problem.

Its pretty easy. He uses mesa instead of nvidia-glx.

Try to find a package named nvidia-glx and install it.
