Graffiti car skins
I decided to try something neat today. I've always wanted to make VDrift look a bit more Need For Speed-ish, in matters of cars tracks and feel. Since it seemed like fun I made a bunch of graffiti skins for 4 cars, aiming for NFS style vinyls. Although it's nothing special I'm happy with the way they look like Smile

NOTE: The graffiti textures were randomly collected from google and layered over car skins. I don't know what licenses apply to each nor who made them (I generally aimed for free ones though).

Anyway I posted several screenshots on my gallery: http://vdrift.net/Gallery/album.php?aid=76 Until the gallery issues are fixed and I can make my album public, here are some external shots:

The reason why the M7's so simple is how the UV mapping is done for that model. There's a little square that gets mapped over the whole body, so there's no easy way to make a complex texture like for the other cars.

If anyone wants them, here are the download links: http://www.mediafire.com/?nguqzjmmgdm alt link http://upload.ps/yassjvmgon0j/VDrift_gra....0.zip.htm

NOTE: If you already applied custom skins to these cars, rename my skins to the number after the last skin. Otherwise this will overwrite your first custom skin placed after the official one for that car. If you didn't add other skins you can choose overwrite safely.

just stumbled on this recently. and i really like these. would it be possible to add them to the svn? i'll do it if no one has a problem with it.

collage isn't explicitly protected under fair use laws, which in the states makes it even more gray that if it *were* protected. but we could always remove them if we get a c&d.

and the open-source nature of vdrift makes it sort of an educational project.

I would try to locate Free textures or obtain author permission. It's not good practice to start including unlicensed material in the game. Stick to strictly Free, in my opinion.

It does look bloody good though.
