Automatic transmission?
The subject of driving with an automatic has already come up some, and is bound to come up again and again. We might as well debate it here for better or worse and decide once and for all where we stand on this issue. Can drifting be done in an automatic? No, not really. Maybe in the lower gears it could be possible, or using a handbrake. But generally if you can't downshift it's hard to break the rear wheels loose. It should be noted that there was never an automatic S2000. There are auto Mustang GT's, but the Carrera Clubsport was manual only. Some other Porsches came with an optional (+$8000) Tiptronic Automatic. The big question is, will people even play the game if they've never driven a manual before? Currently, this is a big hurdle for most people. Do we shoot for realism and say no to automatics or do we give in and make an automatic transmission mode?

I think an automatic transmission would be kinda nice as an additional driver assist (like traction control, abs, auto-clutch at low rpms).

All these things sound desirable. I think a slushbox would be less requested maybe if we had an autoclutch, so it would be something like a Tiptronic. This would probably be an easy first step...

Would that prevent me from stalling so much? If so, I'd vote for it.Is there any good way to use the analog clutch? I haven't figured out how to make it work on my controller (and even then, it'd be hairy putting multiple functions on a single stick). Even if you have pedals, most only come with gas and break, don't they?
