350z ready for export

Sounds good Joe, I'll continue work on the track and try to get you a beta version of it soon. So far I've been working on objects for around the track almost exclusively -- I'll start on the track itself now.

The 350z body is done (see screen up top.) I'll add some textures, wheels and an interior sometime soon.

No progress on the 350z but I've done some work on the track. Here's a preview:

There is a lot left to be done with the background objects but I'm happy with the layout so far.

Here's my TODO list for it, let me know if you have other suggestions:
1. More tree variety, especially some larger ones. Shrubs and tall grasses
2. Varying road width, especially around some bends
3. Rocks between uphill switchbacks, more rocky terrain in background
4. Extend the land around the track so less of the skybox is shown
5. New skybox (the current one is not GPL)
6. Fencing around the track
7. Mansion in the background
8. Stream or pond in the background. A wooden bridge or texas gate
9. Attach all the trees to the ground (some float)
10. Rock walls around track near mansion
11. Start/stop gate, canopies and fences like at a rally event
12. Highway crossing

Been busy lately so not much progress.

Bad news. It turns out with open source backup software you get what you pay for. I lost a pile of data including the latest version of the rally track and my backups were all corrupt.

Fortunately the 350z is intact (it was in an incremental backup that was intact) so I'm still working on that. Here's the interior:



I haven't had a chance to see what remains of the track. Hopefully it's salvageable.

I've got three weeks off so I thought I would spend some time on graphics. Here's what I've got in mind.

1. A 350z. I want to buy this car so rather than taking a test drive I think I will build one out of polygons and see if I still love it
2. A 240zx. I was watching an old rally car video and it pulled the heart strings. I modeled a 280zx not too long ago so this should be a quick and painless process.
3. A rally track.

#3 would normally be the most difficult but I spent my morning getting in touch with free texture authors and a surprising number of them are willing to give me textures with gpl licenses. Is there any problem giving with giving them credit somewhere in the game or documentation??

I'm thinking of the track needs the sweeping curves of Mosport, the hairpin from Suzuka and the corkscrew from Laguna Seca. Any other suggestions?[img][/img][img][/img]

There is a 350z and a 240zx that are playable??! I never even saw these...Are they unlockable or am I just blind :oops:

They haven't been added to the game yet, but it looks like the 350Z is all ready to be added. I put the blender files and textures in the art repository for now.
