Glitches on ATI HD 3870 Open GL Engine (OS X) 15-02-09
Hello to all Vdrift community members.

I would like to tell this glitching on my Mac.

I used 08-05-08 version before I got the recent one and everything was going ok. But when I downloaded the new version and shaders were on I got these glitches.

Normally fps was about 150 ish , but when i activate the shaders, I get glitches and fps decreases to an insane 17-25 on nordschleife.

I uploaded one example of "glitching" on nordschleife with FE car. This is what usually happens but sometimes i get worse glitches. If developers request different errors I will also upload them if necessary.

My specs are:

Mac OS X 10.5.6 (9G55)
3,0 GHz Intel 80486 x 4 (2006 Dual Dual Core)
ATI HD 3870 Mac Edition
Open GL Version 2.0 ATI-1.5.36
GLSLVersion 1.20 ATI Radeon HD 3870 OpenGL Engine


Game Settings

32 bit Windowed 1920x1080 4x fsaa, 16x aniso, Lighting Medium, Reflection High Quality

on OpenGL Extensions viewer the card is shown as 3/3 %100 Open GL 2.1 compatible, but the main version is 2.0.

With shaders off (except car shaders) I can play with stunning 150 fps ish as usual. I ask if there might be a workaround.

Is it always the brake light superimposed over all other textures?

I tried out with other cars and yes joevenzon, it is "mostly" the brake light.

For the "mostly" part I get this when playing with GTR on NordSchleife

Got the new version and same glitches happen just like two pictures when shaders are on :?

I get the same good old performance when shaders are off. Glitches are shader based unfortunately.

I think this is an error with the OSX ATI drivers; I've heard they are a little flaky. I might be able to put in a work-around, but before I fiddle with that, any chance that there are updated ATI drivers you could try installing?

Already on the latest release, but 10.5.7 may introduce new drivers. It will be great if there would be a workaround.

I put a fix (I think) into R2382 of the working SVN code. Are you able to compile VDrift from SVN? If not, a quickie fix would be to make a transparent brake.png file and put it in data/cars/*/textures
