M8 issues
The M8 is fun. It has a few problems lingering however. A few things still remain to be done to the model, for instance the glass needs to be separated from the body. I'm not sure but I doubt any texturing or brake lights have been done yet. Also when I load the car I get
Code:
CONFIGFILE::GetParam():  tire-front.tread not found in /home/thelusiv/.vdrift/carsettings/M8
CONFIGFILE::GetParam():  tire-rear.tread not found in /home/thelusiv/.vdrift/carsettings/M8
CONFIGFILE::GetParam():  brakes-rear.handbrake not found in /home/thelusiv/.vdrift/carsettings/M8
Which looks like some missing car parameters. Besides this, the brakes are very weak, they don't trigger the ABS even when stomped at 100 MPH. The camera position for hood is way in front of the car, and since the glass is not done yet the in-car view is obscured.

Can someone check it into the art repository?

By the way, the new blender (2.43) about to come out has ambient occlusion baking built in... it's suuuuper handy.

Gimmie a few more days (ok, it might take a whole week) to get caught up from overseas management (read: The Owners) being in the office for the last two weeks, and I'll see if I can get this car right, as of yet I haven't touched it. Fortunately, we can chalk this up as another car I've driven, so I should be able to get it pretty close.

OK, here are a few more things I noticed. The wheels bounce up into the fenders sometimes (either the suspension travel is too far, the wheels are too far out, or the wheels are too close to the car). The brake discs rotate with the wheels. Joe just made some way to fix this when he checked in the CT, so that could be used as an example.

I'll take care of the suspension travel. Unfortunately, it's not as widely published for cars as it is for dirt bikes Smile

Looks like the M8 was just checked into the art repository a few hours ago. I'm going to separate the glass and fix the cameras.

Done, checked in to SVN r1510. Looks like cotharyus also updated the suspension a little...it definitely seems less apt to spin out. The brakes are still too weak, but it makes for a pretty good drive now.

The model is still lacking an interior, and mirrors, and spoiler, and needs some more texturing work. It could also use a better shadow texture. I don't have the very latest Blender; Joe, would you like to do some shadow work on it? Also for whenever I get around to upgrading Blender could you write a how-to telling how to do that stuff?

I'll touch the brakes up a bit more. I thought they were a little weak, but that's all the confirmation I need.
