Exam time so not much progress but I added some mirrors. I played with the lights and made a good looking new render at the top of the thread but sadly it won't look this good in game (an hour per frame is a bit much!)

working on textures

I'm continuing on the textures. The resolution right now is 1024x1024 but I think it's too low. Should I bump it up? Is 4096x4096 too much? I believe some graphics cards can't go above 1024 -- does the engine deal properly with this limitation or will a large texture cause problems? Right now I'm working in vectors mostly so I can switch resolutions easily.

looks amazing man. Love it in blue.
I have a few color recommendations though, if possible.
-Black
-Metallic silver.
-white.
-Dark green Smile
-Yellow Smile
-If possible, make a stock car-like paint job, like TEAM MONSTER or something. (ah wait, TEAM MONSTER doesn't drive a ferrari do they? Tongue Tongue )

Oh and also, if this is not too late for you to do this, the front headlights are just a little wierd. On the real thing, instead of going slightly up as you go closer to the center, they make more of a lemon shape. This is not a criticism, l personally like it. But there are going to be some realism freaks out there that might not. If it's too late, leave it, but if it's not, that's just something to consider. Check out the link to make comparisons.

The game will scale the texture based on the texture size setting. On High, the textures are used at whatever size they really are. On Medium, the textures are halved. On Low, the textures are quartered. I think you could do 2048x2048 without upsetting anyone.

Looks good to me. It seems like it's getting close to being ready to throw into VDrift.

Yes, I just have to finish the driver and wheels and it'll be ready to go. Right now the driver is too high-poly and the wheels are untextured.

As usual, not much new progress but my last exam's on Monday so I'll finally have some time. I did manage to finish the wheels and texture them this week and I threw together yet another render:

I had some trouble with the joe exporter so I think I'll try to get things 100% ready and then add the blend file to SVN for someone a little more experienced to tinker with.

Got the car in the game:

This is the barbie edition. Don't worry, it's not the only texture I'm including!

I spotted some trouble with the textures once I got it in the game. Still needs some work.
