There is a problem with the install script, so you have to manually copy your files over. Something like this:

cd ~/Desktop/Download/vdrift-2009-02-15
cp -r data/* /usr/share/games/vdrift/data

Also, in the future SDL_net will no longer be required (replaced with boost).
