The problem is something different: A legal one.

Ingame advertisment without the permission for using the Logos from the companies is a copyright infringement.
The domain vdrift.net is registered on Venzon. He will be the one who gets the mails from the laywers.

And because of such copyright problems vdrift is not in the repository of several distributions and I'd definitly like to see the next release there to reach more people.

What wouldn't be a problem (afais):
a) Remove the ads (what you dont want to)
b) Replace them by fake ones (e.g. Lireppi Instead of Pirelli)
c) Add an ad engine that shows advertisment loaded from the web with the permission of the owners (we can't just ship these ads with the game, because then it would infringe some policies again)
