VDrift doesn't remember my settings

Your controls file looks normal. Perhaps the permissions on the file or the folder it's in have been changed so that it's not being written. Or, perhaps there is some strange non-printing character in the file that we can't see that it is choking on (not likely).

You could try deleting the controls file in your .vdrift directory and see if VDrift creates it again next time you start the game. Then try just changing one control, and exit immediately, and see if this change shows up in the controls file.

Another possibility is that VDrift is crashing right before exit and doesn't finish writing the file. Could you try running vdrift from a terminal and see if it reports a Segmentation Fault at exit?
