Drift Competition Mode
I'm not terribly knowledgeable myself. I did find a rip of some Japanese drifting competition DVD, but it's lacking subtitles, so I have trouble determining what all is going on. From what I can tell, they have a bunch of judges who rate the driving, so it's all pretty subjective. A lot of the drifting looks very similar to me, but sometimes the judges get very excited for reasons I can't determine. SmileI do know that how long you hold a drift, how big an angle you make, and how close to the edges you come are factors. Spinning out and running into walls and piles of dirt are bad of course. I think they award points based on how good a person's run is.I was sort of envisioning the drift racing equivalent of a Tony Hawk game or something. Let people drive around a course, and each drift around a corner visibly racks up points based on the above criteria. Then you could have a time/lap limited mode, and a free/practice mode. That might not be the way it's really done, but it's probably the best way to do it on a computer. It seems to be the way other judged sports have been translated.
