cotharyus: The breaks of the TC are too weak. I modified them yesterday to be a bit better, but haven't really tested it yet.

Ok, I'll take a look at the brakes - should be a pretty easy fix.

I'm going to check out the brakes on all the cars but first im going to work on the 3s and try to fix it up a bit.

remember: If you step really hard on the break, the tires stand still, even at 100mph

GASP!!!! :o :o :o :o THE TIRES STOP MOVING IF YOU HIT THE BRAKES HARD!!! (sarcasm) i never checked... does vdrifts ABS lessen the pressure on the brakes (like in real life to 100% braking power rather then 101% (a skid) ) or does it just stop the car braking every time the wheels starts to skid (then continuing braking after the wheel stops skidding)?

The vdrift ABS is modeled after how real-life ABS systems work. Real ABS systems detect when the wheels are decelerating faster than they should (starting to lock up), decrease the brake pressure, detect when the tires are gripping again, increase the brake pressure, and repeat that rapidly. The idea is that if you do this correctly (there's some additional fancy math that occurs) you'll be oscillating around the point where your tires are maxing out their grip capability. VDrift does this too.

yeah, yeah, make fun of me Tongue

But in vdrift the wheels keep turning and turning until you reach around 20mph (and for the TC: the front wheels block and the rear wheels keep spinning... thats when i normally call my mechanican to fix my breaks Wink

Now I suppose the next question is this - does VDrift's ABS work individually on all four wheels, or if one wheel locks up does it back off on all four corners at the same time? If that's the case, then we'll really have to be careful with brake bias adjustments.

If I'm testing brakes i turn abs off just because of that suspicion. It may be that the brakes aren't strong enough but testing with ABS turned off is the only way to know. Also its possible that the wheels ARE skidding and vdrift is just making the wheels look like there spinning even though there not. i will test the brakes ASAP because it seems like something that has been bugging people for some time now.

Honestly, the biggest problem with most of the brakes is they aren't strong enough. the only way to know you have the strong enough, is you should be able to lock them up - the best way to tell if you did or not, is turn ABS on and look for it to show as active when you brake. The problem is related to figuring out if the bias settings are adversely affecting the car's handling with or without ABS on.

Yes and the reason we cant tell if there strong enough (in some cars) is because were not sure how ABS is really working because of the wheels not locking ntil 20MPH Sad Sad

i tested different break settings a bit.

Something is wrong here. Either the car is much too lightwight or something is wrong with the physics engine.

What happens if all wheels block at 60mph, normally? The car will start to skid, or? It wont lift up its rear or make a backflip...

I noticed this on the 3s. what i think it is is that the tires have SO much grip that when you stop you flip forward (like on a bicycle) instead of skidding.

I made a small patch and posted it here: http://paste.debian.net/35811

Maybe you could try and modify it yourself a bit. With this settings you can see the ABS working...
