Tuning the TC

Hi,

joe since you've changed the AWD power thingy the TC got a bug.


stop the car until its speed is 0, change to first gear and then try to accelerate. I cant get over 16km/h.

You have to switch to the second gear or rev up the engine before engaging the first gear.

(also the TC is pretty weak now. Some websites say it got around 270HP, normally...)

I'm not sure this doesn't have something to do with the traction control. I'll take a look at it and see what I come up with - btw, what kind of car is the TC supposed to be?

A Toyota Corolla WRC (german wikipedia says something about 2l, 300HP at 5500 U/min, 520NM at 3250 U/min)


No ABS, no TCS activated.

And a list, that shows that the WRC just needs 3.8s from 0-60mph (and not 7s like it does now).

Ok, I've adjusted some things, it's much better. As soon as I get my commit bits back, I'll commit it. I've only got about 5 things to commit now...

Well, maybe the assumption that the AWD cars were way too fast was incorrect....

No, the numbers really were all wrong. It had able half the HP and torque it should have had.

Oh, and i read somewhere (i think in one of the articles the link i posted to) that it got 6 gears, not only five.


And new settings... will be fun to test them

cotharyus, the car is fine, but i'm missing the 6th gear. Is it possible to add it?

Yes, it is. All I have to do is get everything compiling on the Mac again so I can make sure the values I have in mind are sane and I can make the change and commit it.

Well, the updated TC is in SVN, it should be much better. But I'm with xTs on this other thing, because it's way out of my league - could we please have some form of rally track?

A rally track would be great! :-)

Seriously, cotharyus, if no one makes an original track soon the two of us should get together and try to whip something up -- although maybe not a rally track at first. I can do an alright job of modeling, and it sounds like you could design it and maybe get some textures.

Yea, if I got you a 3D drawing of a track (you'd have turns, elevation changes, etc available because of this) what else would you need from me to be able to turn it into a track?

I'd want info about the banking of the turns, too.

If you drew out the line of the track from the top and front and side it'd make it easy for me to trace in blender.
