Strange with handbrakes
I've download SVN version of VDrift (1635, 2007-03-24).
Successfully compile it and install.
All is runs well. Except one little thing.
Is it possible to use handbrakes?
In Need For Speed (or games something like this) to get to the turn correctly, I usually use HANDBRAKES + TURN_LEFT (or TURN_RIGHT). But in VDrift more efficient is switch to "1 gear" to correctly pass the turn.
Handbrakes are no use. They even doesn't decreasing the car's speed.
Is it possible to increase effectiveness of handbrackes?

Ok. I did it. I've check them all. I've test them on "Road Atlanta" in practice mode.
Now, my opinion. Following cars have bad handbrakes (say, 4 points of 10 possible): AX2, CS, F1, NS, SB, XS (and, may be FF, G4, RS2). Most of other cars have awful handbrakes (3/10). And FE, M8, TL2, XG, Z06 are have no handbrakes AT ALL (2/10). It's useless to press on SPACE here.
On my opinion, coefficient of HandBrackes should be increased by 2. On ALL of the CARS.
Right now it's almost impossible to go on turn. Inertion of every car is very big. I'm pressing on RIGHT/LEFT button, but car is simply "flying on straight line"...
May be increasing handbrakes value can solve the problem...
If somebody's interesting, I can post all numbers from my table. There are following cells here:
- CarName;
- HowFastCarIncreasingSpeed;
- HowGoodHandBrakesAre;
- HowEaselyCanCarLosseControl;
- TotalControl.
But I must say that is ONLY my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. And ALL of these results ARE only MINE preconceived opinion. 8)
And one more little thing.
There are some car models bugs in: FE, M8, RS2. Ican see through them road under car. 8( And XM model has "partially see-through effect".

thelusiv Wrote:So there are some cars that have good handbrakes, I guess, since you didn't mention those? I wonder if those are the cars which have had their brake strength increased. Errrr.... no. As I said, there are three groups of cars: cars with BAD h.b., with awful h.b., and with NO h.b. at all. There are no cars with GOOD h.b. right now on my VERY HUMBLE opinion. Sorry. ;-)
thelusiv Wrote:I am interested in seeing your table too. It's always good to see what people think of the cars and how easy they are to drive. This helps us make improvements to them.
Well, ok. What's best way to put it here? Is it possible to attach file with XLS table? Or I can just put it here in following way:
3S 6 5 4 4
AX2 8 3 4 8
thelusiv Wrote:As for the model bugs, the cars you mentioned simply do not have an interior model yet. We went ahead and released those cars because they're fun to drive anyway. Ah. I see.
Is it planning to put here some models like BMW Z4/Mazda Miata/Dodge Viper? In GTA there is my favorite car model, Banshee. It looks SO goooood... 8)
thelusiv Wrote:But, it is distracting to see the road going by all the time, like you're driving in Fred Flintstone's car. Hopefully we can get at least a simple floor in there to cover things up. Well... I hope it works. 8)

I 've already seen this problem with G4 and I'm trying to find a solution.
I've found this link to get some info:
http://www.gt40.co.uk/gt40.html
http://www.gt40.co.uk/gt40st11.html
http://www.gt40.co.uk/gt40st10.html
Is it possible to have all car list like this:
* C7 (Lotus Super 7)
* CT (Porsche Carerra Turbo)
* F1 (modern F1 car)
* M8 (Mazda RX-8 )
* NS (Nissan Skyline)
* RS2 (Subaru Impreza RS2.5)
* TL2 (Toyota Levin - new model)
Thanks.
