This is just a notice to you guys that I'll be really busy for the next week or so. It's crunch time at school again. I have a million and one things to do already and it won't get much better until the semester's over. I'll answer private messages and emails, and probably instant messages, but I won't be participating much on IRC, mailing list, or the forums...although, I'll try to still read the new posts and conversations as I have time to keep abreast of what's going on.
But anyway, I'm posting this to let everyone know that I'm not dropping off the face of the earth, and I will indeed be working on VDrift as much as possible over winter break. Plus, next semester is my final one, so I have only a couple things to finish up and will have more free time then.
In the past few weeks we've had a lot of enthusiastic and capable people join the site and start making suggestions and submitting patches. I've done my best to give new folks SVN commit access where needed and I've seen some pretty impressive changes made since then. Of course that's not to downplay the contributions of the VDrift team members who've been around a while. All in all I think we have a very nice group and we keep getting good people, in fact there are several people I'd still like to see get SVN access - so if you haven't gotten it yet, but think you should, you probably will. You might need to remind me.
Anyway, I'm very happy to see that VDrift development has picked up so much in the last couple of weeks. I commend all of you on the great job that's being done, and I'm confident that development will probably not even slow down much without me around for a bit.
We're definitely due for a release and when I get back, I will finally have a good bit of free time, and my biggest priority will be finishing things up, and releasing the game. Undoubtedly it'll be the last for 2006.
