this is a common problem with *buntu 9.10.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1309656

in that thread they post many fixes. it happens with alot of sdl games.
not all of the fixes work for everyone. personally, the one below worked for me

Quote:Try creating a file in your home directory called .alsoftrc and add the contents drivers = oss.

1. Applications->Accessories->Text Editor
2. type drivers = oss in the test editor
3. save the file in your home directory ( /home/yourusername ) as .alsoftrc

fixed my issues with vdrift, supertuxkart, etc

Sorry to bump this thread, but I've tried everything. JPenguin, do you remember how you fixed this? I've got a similar problem with my XBMC system.

Thank you very much for this solution. This fixed my issues with these aps as well! I really appreciate this, because it seems that I have been struggling with this issue for way too long now. However, there are some other issues that I am having to deal with now. A friend of mine recommended that I try scanpst.exe. He seems to think that this will help me. Has anyone here ever used this? What was your experience with it? Would you recommend it? Thank you!
