error loading texture file "/usr/share/games/vdrift/data/tracks/neurburgring_nordschleife/o bjects/.png"...

and the game wont work anyway. this always happens at the same part of the game, after about 5 minutes. can you help me to change the problem?

What version of the game are you using? What operating system are you running it on? What do you mean exactly by "the game won't work anyway" - do you mean when you get that message, the game crashes? Does this happen on any other tracks? Sorry for all the questions but I need a little more info to help. By the way, welcome Smile

problems at nurburgring
the problem, i told before, always will happen at the same point of the course, `Wehrseifen` short before the course will turn left. this problem is only at this course, only at this point , not on one of the others. I got no message in the game, i see the message only on the console. the game at this point dont move anyway, and i have to kill the process to stop it.

i use SUSE Linux 10.0, the package is: vdrift-2006-10-06-full.x86.package with a size of 141,4 MB.

is there a possibility to solve the problem by myself? i think, somewhere is a part, what will point to a gould, that dousnt exist. but - where????

I wonder if this has something to do with it:
data/tracks/nuerburgring_nordschleife/objects/list.txt:200069 Wrote:#entry 1254
sfline.dof-00.joe
.png
1
0
0

I think that line that says ".png" there should be a full filename of one of the PNG files in the objects directory for that track. I'm not sure what it should be, because I have no clue what object "sfline.dof-00.joe" is. There are ways to figure out this with the track editor...I'll look into fixing it permanently...

If you want to just randomly pick an existing file from the directory and replace that line with a valid filename, it will probably work. There might be something that looks funny in-game then, and if you can figure out which thing it is and what texture it should be, that would help a lot...

a lot of thanks, that you tried to find the problem. the message of the .png is away, but the program hangs at the same point. maybe i had told you another line, what came at this point:

Detected NaN in origin vector
Detected NaN in elevation 1 0
Not contacting with NaN surface

maybe you are able, to understand this problem while reading this text. i tried to find a track editor, but i didnt find one. maybe only root users are able to use it. by that, you are very kind to try to help me...

Ah OK, the NaN erros are one that happen sometimes when a bug in the collision code is encountered. There is a fix in VDrift SVN to prevent the game from hanging or crashing, instead it quits the game to a menu. However we haven't been able to pinpoint what causes this bug. It's a problem we've been working on for some time. If you know of a certain area that always has this problem, try to find a way to avoid that area.

Which car are you using on this track? Have you tried any of the other cars to see if the same place makes the game crash with others as well? Could you possibly record that leads up to the spot where it crashes, and then put that up somewhere I could download it?

RECORDFILE
i tried to figure out the error: it happens with all cars, i tried to do with, always at the same point. at www.bienertedv.de/1.vdr you are able to download the part, where the problem will start. if at the left side the red stones will appear, the game will be in a loop. kind regards

I got your replay to play by installing the last release on my machine. Now that I know where it is, I'm going to test this with the latest SVN and see if this is still a problem...I know there was a time when I could go all the way through the ring without problems, on most of the cars. Let us know if you find any spots in other tracks that do this.

OK I just checked out the Nurburgring in SVN and this bug seems to be gone. The car seems to "hit a big bump" in the road and get a little wacky for a second, and then it's fine.

Yea, I've seen the big bump in the road there at the ring, there's also one on Ruudsko too, but I only seem to find it with the AX2 and only when I'm in 5th or 6th gear.
