Cornering with the CS?
Thanks for the great game!

I was thrilled to find an aircooled 911 in the game, but am having trouble getting the hang of it.

In particular, if I brake hard when coming up to a corner, the car hooks right and into a spin (with zero steering input). I've found that letting up on the throttle helps get through some corners, but that doesn't seem quite right. Apologies if this was posted anywhere else, but I couldn't find any tips on cornering with the CS.

I'm playing with the keyboard if that helps

Thanks again!

Hi zje

Which VDrift version are you running?

data/cars/CS/CS.car should contain:

[balance-weight]
position = 0.38, -0.25, 0.05
mass = 80.0

You can also check center of mass by enabling debug info option.

I'm not sure which version I'm running, I'm using the latest from Gentoo (https://packages.gentoo.org/package/games-sports/vdrift)

When looking at the CS.car file, I do not see the data you are referring to:
Code:
/usr/share/games/vdrift/cars/CS $ grep balance CS.car
# these are used to calculate the weight distribution and balance

Am I running an old version then? I noticed that the svn repo does have the parameters you mentioned.

Thanks!

I was able to build from github and use the data from svn. This is a much better game than the version packaged in my distro. So far, it appears that the braking is behaving much more as I would expect.

Thanks for the help
