Only hear other cars' engines

When racing another car, only the other car's engine makes sounds, but I hear my own car skidding. It almost sounds like my own engine at first, but when the opponent gets farther ahead (due to my inherent lack of skill) I hear the engine fading away, and the revving up effect doesn't follow what I'm doing with my own engine. Even worse, when racing three other cars, the sound cuts in and out. When in practice mode the sound works normally, meaning I hear my car's engine and skid sounds.

I completely rewrote the sound engine since the 3/23 release. Can you try the 12-26-07 linux source release candidate 1?
