It says the TAB key will give you Reverse..
It does seem to work and you will go in reverse.
BUT, there seems to be no way to go forward again.
For me, it gets stuck in reverse !!

Can you check the controls mapping for the car transmission?

Try deleting controls.config in vdrift user folder:
mac: Library/Preferences/VDrift
linux: .vdrift
windows: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\VDrift

Actually, I did find a way out of the stuck in reverse situation.
Just hit the #1 key on your keyboard (not keypad) to get into 1st gear and then you will be going forward again.
Works for me.
