Will the old gauges be back?

I was browsing through the old screenshots and looking at the gauges from previous versions of vdrift. I'm not sure why they were replaced with the current bars, but I think it would be nice to see that pretty speedometer again even as an optional setting. I was wondering if there are any thoughts on bringing it back, unless the reason they were taken down for is still available and agreed on.

I seen discussion about a custom gauge system as well, which I think would be very nice and welcome (could be a car customization setting). The old speedo vs. the new speedo could be put there and more designs possibly added later (someone posted a few here last year but it seems no one replied).

The old gauges still exist in data\textures\hud, so maybe there are still plans for them or a setting to enable them for those who want?

Adding customizable gauges wouldn't be too hard. I'll bump those up on the list of things to do.

If this isn't too late to bump, I was wondering if there are any new thoughts or plans on this. I've been trying several car games, and what makes me most sad in vdrift compared to other sims is not having a real speedo.

I also thought about another thing. Gauges could be made car specific too, like many sims have them. Each car containing its speedometer and the speedo can be colored to what looks best for that car (or if the info can be found, textured the way each car has it in real life).

For the time being, I was still wondering if there's any hidden or hackish way to enable the old speedo again. Was that code totally removed or can it still be enabled?

It was totally removed, sorry.

I do still want to do custom gauges, though, where each car can have separate textures. It's near the top of my list of things to do, I just haven't had the time recently. :?
