I'm really liking this game, but the audio problems are getting to me. Racing by myself sounds fine, and so does racing with one other driver. Total of 3 or more results in my car's engine coming through choppily. Also, when my car is not sounding clear, my tires still squeal fine; it's only the engine sound that's affected.
I tried modifying the /etc/openalrc file in many ways, and found no difference even when I replaced the first line - (define devices '(6tgyu)) - with gibberish, so maybe that's not helping anything. Any help?

Which VDrift release, operating system, and CPU?

D'oh :roll:
VDrift version ... unsure. I downloaded the 2-23-2008 version, played that, but then upgraded to the development version 2 days ago.
Operating system - Ubuntu 7.10
CPU - Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.46GHZ (each)
