New splash screen? - thelusiv - 02-24-2008
I think we need a new splash screen graphic for when VDrift starts up.
I made an album of screen shots from the latest build. I turned on submissions for this album so that others can add some shots to it. Also you can rate the images to indicate your favorite. Check out the album, so far it has 3 shots I took of the M3D on Kyalami.

while we are at the topic of art-assets, a (new) icon would be great. i converted the VDrift.ico from the windows version for the mac icon, but this is just a black "V" at a size of 64x64. leopard supports icons up to 512x512, and anything below 128x128 is considered sub-standard.

Sure, the original art is in the vdrift-art repository. All the art is in SVG so it should be easy to make a new icon at any size. You can make one yourself or I can make on later on sometime.

I'll have a look at the art repository...

Hmm, I hope that the squished text is just because it's a mock-up. Is this the icon that will represent the VDrift launcher? On Windows/Linux it is both the launcher icon and the icon that goes in the application title bar. I guess that would be the equivalent of an application icon in the chooser bar on OS X?

If you'd like to take a screenshot and re-vectorize it, check out this:
http://vectormagic.com/
It's amazingly good at vectorizing raster images.

Well I tried VectorMagic but my uploads kept failing (*cough*torrents*cough*) so I just used the trace bitmap function in Inkscape on my favorite one, and also the one with the most votes/highest rating so far. Pardon the JPEG compression.
