Sorry but, I drive the car and when I try to stay the car just accelerating and rotating (As I see in the TV SmileBye.

The physics engine is quite good (based on Vamos) and very complete. The game is meant as a realistic simulation and as a result, the cars aren't easy to drive. They require careful throttle and steering inputs to stay under control. If you make more standard cars, as you mentioned in another thread, they'll be less powerful and less prone to lose traction.

The trouble is not in the engine but in the cars. They are very difficult to get right, and there are a lot of factors that can make them feel wrong. I agree that it feels like turning + accelerating isn't quite right, and the front wheels tend to slide out too early in a fast turn. The cars are drivable if you're careful. I've been working on the S2000 a good bit, so if you want to check out the latest changes use the settings in our Subversion repository.

As far as the feel goes...Is time in this game realistic? Everything feels kind of slow to me. For instance, I've been fooling around with TORCS as well, and VDrift feels like it's in between running TORCS at full and 50% speed (maybe, 75%).Is it just me? Is TORCS faster than real time? Is VDrift slower? Am I out of my mind?

The time in VDrift is correct. If it feels faster or slower, keep in mind that the MPH display does not lie. The cars in TORCS are souped up F1s and other racers, while the VDrift cars are stock. Also, it's been a while since I've played TORCS, but back then the physics engine wasn't that great (although maybe it's improved). I'd recommend playing one of the gran turismo games (and outfit your car with simulation tires, or N2 tires on GT4) and see how it feels compared to VDrift.

I was thinking about that and yes you have reazon. The physics engine is fine. But the car is just very weight in the back and for that reason just turn fast sometimes. But that is not bad. I think that the driver just accelerate too much! And of course the car cannot be stable if you continiously accelerates! And the engine of the car is powerfull compared to a standard car.I guess that the game only need some more control assistance so the player cannot require to do all things. But if we have some analog control or if the player can just change the level of aceleration: pressing one time up the driver accelerates but not at max, and pressing two times up (same as double clic of the mouse) the driver can accelerate at max. So the player can have a standard acceleration and a max acceleration for do things same as leaving fast in a competition Smile. And too you can choose the mouse as an analog input. I guess what that kinds already are done in the game, not? I will try to download the SVN version.

I have this ideas for add:Keyboard and digital pad assistances, with the option to disable it. Shift up and shift down assistance, automatic or manual shift. A key to do embrague so the player must do embrague manually or it can be activated as auto too. Some key to do the maual break.Keys for the lights (same as real car): Bright light and normal light, turns lights, break light, rear shift light, patent light, etc.Analog control (mouse, joystick). In the digital control the player can press two times a key (same as double click in mouse) to do a hard or fast action: Fastest turn, max acceleration, hard break, etc.Can you try to implement that ideas to the game? Smile thank you.Bye!

Analog joystick controls are already in the game, and in my opinion, are really the only way to play VDrift right now. I agee with you that there needs to be some assistance for the keyboard controls, but it's been a low priority (check out the poll on the main page! people want multiplayer first, and it's taking a lot of work). Mouse control is an even better idea than improved keyboard controls. It's on the list of things to do, too.

Also, some of the cars do spin out a bit too fast. The mustang, in my opinion, is perfect (in regards to how fast it spins out, anyway). The s2000 is a bit twitchy, I think, but could be worse (for example, go drive the s2000-R).

Some about the Physics Engine - thelusiv - 09-03-2005

Yeah all my cars have some issues. I'm working on the S2000's right now...
