Neutral to 1st Gear - fmora - 11-24-2007 Hey Everyone, I'm new to VDrift and the linux world; I just installed Ubuntu and VDrift. I have a question about auto shifting. I have it enabled but I noticed it doesn't shift from neutral to 1st gear; is this by design? or is there a way to enable this feature? I have my boys playing and it would be easier for them to press the gas button to accelerate at the beginning of the race. Also, is there a way to bind a key to make the car go in reverse? Instead of down shifting to reverse and then hitting the gas is there a way to bind this to one key? Keep up the great work! Thanks! -F - kidrock - 11-25-2007 the neutral to first is by design to let you do a burnout etc (makes it more realistic). same concept with the reverse.... but im sure if you mess around with the controls file a bit you can get it to work - cotharyus - 11-25-2007 If you look in the options, controls section there are some options to bind certain gear changes to certain buttons. You can set a button to put the car into reverse, but you'll have to press the gas button to get it to go anywhere.
