GTR - cotharyus - 08-28-2007 Per a conversation thelusiv and I had today, I have started a "new" car. The GTR (now in SVN) is a non-drift version of the GT - it uses the same model, same textures, same everything but the car file. As the GT drifts so well, I did not want to use that, but per this being an original car for this game, we need an original car that doesn't handle like a pig. I'm open to suggestions, with only a few very minor changes I've knocked about 10 seconds off the lap time of one track. Try it and let me know what you think. - joevenzon - 08-28-2007 The GT drifts well mainly because I fiddled with the tire coefficients so that they have horrible lateral grip -- you should definitely replace the coefficients on the GTR. - cotharyus - 08-29-2007 I've actually only messed with one of the tire settings, and it had nothing to do with lateral grip. I'm awaiting feedback on this. I think one of the reasons the car is so driftable, is that grip doesn't plummet when the car starts to slide. I have been studying some more on the pacejka tire spec on how to make *all* the cars as recoverable as the GT is, rather than feeling like once it breaks loose, it's all over but the dizziness. - kidrock - 08-29-2007 Will check this out as i am going to be working on the 3s to make it handle better when it stops. (unless if it SUPPOSED to do a stoppie with ABS turned off ![]() ![]() - cotharyus - 08-31-2007 Further revisions have been made to the GTR. Please let me know what you think. I suspect this car is ready for prime time. - joevenzon - 09-01-2007 The car still feels pretty heavy, but the tires feel less "drifty" which I'd consider a good thing. What happens if you slap on the XS tire coefficients? - cotharyus - 09-01-2007 Not sure - explain why the car feels heavy - it's weight is a perfect match for the Mustang GT. I know what you mean about feeling heavy, but honestly, it's pretty accurate. - joevenzon - 09-01-2007 Oh, yeah, its heaviness is accurate for a mustang GT. I wasn't sure if you were going to keep it as a mustang or soup it up. As a mustang it's quite good. |
