"Drift racing" is a misnomer - protomor - 04-30-2007
I know its knit picky but eventually a large group will bitch that the game calls it "drift racing". Unless you are doing touge (mountain passes) with quite a few hairpin turns, drifting is in no way shape or form the fastest way around. Therefore, "racing" doesnt quite fit because it's definition means to go for best times while drifting is more for show and almost never for speed.
Just my 2 cents.

That's more down to tracks than it is the game mechanics. Why don't you help establish more drift tracks? The two main devs are pretty busy making the game engine cool and could use help with creating new material for the game.

Ive been trying to create tracks but theres so many hoops to jump through my mind is going crazy. If there was a clear tutorial on how to make it for this game from start to finish, id be on board.

A full tutorial would be nice. At the moment all we have are the steps from the wiki. Once we shift our focus to making an original track, we should write up a tutorial as we go along.

If someone can explain to do once I have the joe file out of blender, I can finish up this mini oval I made.

Well, protomor, right now the VDrift track editor is needed to properly set the track up for the game, after it is exported. At the moment it runs well on Linux, but it hasn't ever been built on Windows as far as I know. It would likely take a little code tweaking to get done just right. Since we're in the process of writing a new track editor in Python, there's not much point in porting the old track editor now (it's not very good anyway in terms of interface and ease of use).
In the meantime, since you have already created a track, why not post it somewhere others can download it, so someone who already has the track editor and Linux can try importing it. This way others could possibly add some things to your track, or give you tips on how to set it up better to fit the game.
Sorry for the lack of good tools and documentation on this, the old track editor was sort of hacked together as a quick fix; we didn't have time to write a complete one when the new modeled track system was introduced.

I just made a basic oval track and I couldnt get the textures to show up right so Im not even sure it was made right lol. I will make a decent one next time Im free and post it up for someone to import.

Cool, well keep playing around with modeling, it's not easy to do well without a little experience. We'd love to see screenshots and that sort of thing if you've got them, and if you get hung up on something or have questions about Blender, feel free to ask...
