Since i downloaded vdrift i had wondered how to drift. i have finally found a good drifter that is; drumroll please!; The TC. at first it is not but with a tiny mod it is!!! just change the brake settings of it to this and you will have a great drifter! turn abs on and traction control off and drift away!!!

Interesting that you like to drift an AWD car. Have you tried drifting it with it set to RWD?

I have actually. I had played around with the cars a bit and i felt that i was unable to drift with the RWD vehicles because i wasn't able to get out of a spin out once i started. i will try to get a couple of photos of me drifting with this. some of the drifts are interesting. once or twice I've spun out to over 90degrees to the track and I've been able to save it.

I tend to feel the same way about the RWD vehicles, it is quite difficult to drift and hold it together. I actually find that sometimes it's easier with TCS on when moving faster (3rd or 4th gear) to get some oversteer and then pull out of it. Clearly our suspension model needs some work...

Our suspension model isn't perfect, but keep in mind that drifting is *hard*, especially in a computer game (unless it's an arcade game like NFS), since you don't have feedback from your body about the forces acting on the car, etc.

Aye, that makes things a lot harder, but my point about the suspension model is that I've tweaked it a lot, and never really could come up with anything that didn't result in the back end always being way too light. That is when you go around a sharp corner or over the crest of a hill, the rear end doesn't stay planted, even if it seems there is enough weight back there, brake balance is normal, etc...

thats the exact reason i use the tc. i found that it is much easier to drift at a higher speed while using the handbrake then at a lower speed. Also if im in a lower gear (say 1st or 2nd) and i hit the handbrake the car stalls ruining the entire drift. I found it extremely hard to drift with the RWD cars because eather to much or to little power is being given to the rear wheels. The suspension model definetly needs work.

I like drifting without the handbrake using RWD cars, because you can adjust your drift angle with the gas pedal... it's hard, but fun.

joe, seconded.
The Z06 is too fun to drift with already. Just ride the gas half way down and gas it into the corner in 2nd or 3rd.
I'll have to try out the mod tomorrow
