Game Performance not satisfyable - mealejan - 08-11-2006 (WinXP, Athlon XP 2000, RAM 1280MB, GeForce 4MX 64MB) I use the latest release (2006/07/08) and it starts up fine but when I start a race the framerate drops to almost zero making it impossible to use. Any idea how this can be changed? Can I apply any special settings or drivers that solve my problem? You could try lowering the other graphic settings. Are directX and nvidia drivers updated? I'm not familar with the perfomance of your video card, Anyone else? - clytle374 - 08-12-2006 Have you tried lowering the resolution in the game? You could try lowering the other graphic settings. The Processor can handle the game with low/medium graphics but the Graphic Card needs an upgrade, I also used that, 2 years ago... so the problem could come from those. - Cold_St0rm - 08-12-2006 Well you have a good RAM but you Graphic Card and Processor is a bit old... Now turn the texture detail down to Low. Try playing like this. You'll have to listen to shift and you'll have no idea what your lap times are, but I think you'll see better performance with the HUD off. I have a GF4 MX440SE, I think that's the DDR version of your card, and I get about 10-15 fps doing the things I describe above. The rest of your system is probably fine, though not the fastest, you should have plenty of RAM and processor power to handle the game. - thelusiv - 08-12-2006 mealejan: Try these things: turn off the HUD in the game, set the video to the lowest resolution on 16 bit color. When using agp check your agp-aperture-size. With you amount of RAM you have you can set it to 256MB or even more. How about performance in other games? Another source for the problem could be the OpenGL-Drivers for your card. You want at least a GeForce 4 Ti! I had the same problem. I was getting terrible fps but other openGL games were fine. There is a setting under advanced in the Nvidia settings. Tweak that and it will fly. I was getting the same problem with racer also. That setting made all the difference. Anand |
