First, check this FAQ entry on cars. Next read this forum post on how to convert Racer cars. Now that forum post is geared towards Linux, but I'm sure the same things can be done on Windows and OS X as well. Check out that info and then let us know if there are parts you don't understand. - thelusiv - 08-04-2006 If you know how to make Racer cars, and learn a little about the VDrift format, then you can learn about how to convert Racer cars to VDrift cars easily. The first link that thelusiv gave you is a very good read. In short: You build a car with your favorite Software (Blender?) Then you convert the car to Blender. Racer dof files for example can be converted to 3ds with Zmodeler. Then you can import that 3ds file into Blender. Then you've still got to texture your car with UV Mapping in Blender. I noticed that if you texture a car in 3dmax and convert a 3ds file to blender your 3ds UVmappings get lost. So remember to do the UV Mapping in Blender. If you car is finished you can export it to joe format with the export script also mentioned in the link of thelusiv. You export the car as body.joe. The glass as glass.joe and the interior as interior.joe. The wheels can be exported as wheel_front and wheel_rear.joe The last but not least thing you've got to do is to build a .car file with all the cars settings in it. If you have any Vdrift car questions you can come onto IRC. I'm there almost every day in the European time zone. - kcid - 08-05-2006 It's prettty simple to make a car for Vdrift.
