"This application has failed to start because OpenAL32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"Re-installed it twice or so and still comes up with the error. Where can I find this .dll ?Cheers, :mrgreen:

same problem here? downloaded a openall32, but game crashes immediatly, just a white screen. what am i doing wrong? where do i have to place the openall32

I think that the problem is that your data files aren't found
open VDrift.config and change the line
"data_dir = /usr/share/games/vdrift" (without quotes)
to
"data_dir = C:\Program Files\VDrift"
if you installed it on the default place
BTW: this bug will also be fixed in the next version

Having same problem
I've done everything as specified above to rectify the problem, but it still just aint working.
Anything else it could be? My PC isnt great spec (1.6gHz, GeForce 4400 (retrooooo), 756MB RAM, yada yada) but a lot of other people appear to be having this problem, so I'd be hesitant to blame my hardware.
Any other ideas? I wanna driiiiiift.

Which problem? The white screen and crash problem or the OpenAL problem ?
If the white screen and crash problem try to delete "C:\Documents And Settings\your username\.vdrift\"

Still doesnt want to play ball. Shame cos I properly want to have a bash at it! Looks awesome.
Are there any other supplementary programs I need to have installed (other than OpenAL) for it to work?
Either way keep up the good work, maybe ill be able to run it one day hehe 8)

the problem is the datadirectory I guess.
A new version is probably coming in the next week (but I can't promise anything) and these bugs are fixed so try again this new version when it is released.

I had the same problem, and i found that it was because i kept installing the game to a different folder (not the default one).
Installing the game to the default folder and updating the config file, the game works properly.

Logan71: What did you change in the config file (and which one, the one in your documents and settings or the one in the installation folder)
And had you have a previous version of VDrift installed (in that default folder)

After reading all of the above posts, I altered my config file, took care of the missing DLL, and deleted .vdrift in my documents folder.....and it still crashes on the white screen.
Any other things I can try?

yes, be patient and wait for the new version
EDIT: After you installed OpenAL you can try to reinstall vdrift, maybe it works than
