[HELP] VDrift installation complete guide for Windows 7 and Windows XP. - miamoore1993 - 11-29-2013

Hi, Blush

1. Installed vdrift-2012-07-22.exe
2. Installed vdrift-2012-07-22a_patch.exe
3. Installed vdrift-2012-07-22b_patch.exe
4. Installed Git-1.8.4-preview20130916.exe
5. Installed Slik-Subversion-1.8.4-win32.msi
6. Installed codeblocks-12.11mingw-setup.exe

I installed all of this from Windows 7 and Windows XP with a decent GPU Video card (not a builtin gpu video).
Still the same. Nothing happens (no any windows or dialog box appeared) when i opened the vdrift.exe directly from installed folder.

Is it really needs compiling? How? Confused

You only need the vdrift installer (and optionally the patches).

What you also might need:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328

(I didn't include them into the setup unfortunately, assumed they would be available on win7 systems.)

If the game still doesn't start, look in your Documents directory:
C:\Users\{your username here}\Documents\VDrift

There should be a log.txt file. Post its content here.

Thank you for your reply.

Still no any respond like windows or alert/dialog prompt when i open/run the vdrift.exe.

And there is no vdrift folder on my documents folder exist. I think vdrift folder dont exist because the game (maybe) does not start at all. vdrift.exe dont exist on task manager after i open/run the vdrift.exe.

Visual C++ already installed and the windows both xp and windows 7 are fully updated. Antivirus is totally removed before i reinstall the vdrift. And even used another drive to reinstall new windows for making sure.

Maybe you could provide a portable version that everything on it in one folder.

You could try one of the development builds (vdrift-2013-06-01.exe): http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdrift/files/vdrift/nightly%20builds/

Those builds come without an installer, are self-extracting archives, and have a debug version vdriftd.exe.

I'm having the same problem. I'm running Windows 7 64bit. I cannot get vdrift to run at all. Simply nothing happens after double clicking the vdrift.exe file. There's no error message and no vdrift folder gets created in My Documents either.

- First I installed vdrift-2012-07-22
- Then I tried vdrift-2013-06-01 over the top
- Then vdrift-2012-07-22b_patch over that.
- I also tried the Visual C++ 2010 redistributables posted here.
No change.

Also there's no crash event log. It seems far as Windows is concerned the program was never executed on my system. Any suggestions?

System:
Win 7 64bit
Intel Corei7-3770K CPU @ 3.5GHz
16GB RAM
nVidia GF GTX 680 (v331.82 drivers)
