installed vdrift into xp but game will not launch [SOLVED] - jamesb1957 - 08-15-2010

Hi:

Since I am new to open source and its programing please be patient.I installed the latest version of vdrift for windows xp(2010-06-30)but when I go to play it the only thing that comes up is the ms dos window and it is blank then it disappears.Nothing happens after that.Below is the information for my computer and operating system.

XP home edition with SP3
Intel Celeron 2.8 Ghz
1.25 MB memory
Nvidea GeForce FX 5500 256 mb memory ver. 6.14.0011.7519(English)

At looking at other similar post here is the stduot file,

INFO: Starting VDrift: 2010-06-30-full, Version: , O/S: Windows

INFO: Log file: C:\Documents and Settings\James\My Documents\My Games\VDrift/log.txt

INFO: Your video card doesn't support framebuffer objects. Disabling shaders.

In the stderr file there is nothing.

Any Suggestions

Thanks Jim

I'm also having the same problem. When I click on the exe file, a DOS window shows, after it, SDL simulator window shows but it closes and nothing happens. The Log file is same as above

Hum, the stderr.txt usually has the information about why it failed to start up. Without more information, I'm stumped. If you have the time/bandwidth you could try an older version:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdrift/files/vdrift/vdrift-2009-06-15/vdrift-setup-2009-06-15.exe/download

Might be the mipmap issue, try: http://www.file-upload.net/download-2674537/vdrift.zip.html

I experience the same problem, I have it installed on XP SP3 as well. It is an iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, 4 GB of RAM (XP does not use it all though) and an ATI HD 2600 Pro 256 MB.

Do the older versions work? Or should I try on Mac OS X or Ubuntu?

stderr.txt is empty, here is stdout.txt:
