Installer failure - magg - 10-26-2009
Have downloaded latest version of vdrift from two mirrors and both give installer error messages indicating corrupted files. No problem downloading other programs of similar or larger size. Assistance please.

I assume you're using windows. What's the exact error message?
vdrift-setup-2009-06-15.exe should be 440,477,704 bytes

OS is XP and vdrift version vdrift-setup-2009-06-15.exe. & size 420 MB (440,479,744 bytes). Error message has been slightly different for each mirror but last was "NSIS Error - Installer integrity check has failed. Common cause include incomplete download or damaged media. Contact author etc for new copy. More info at: hppt://nsis.sf.net/NSIS_error".
Earlier NSIS installer error recommended a fresh download, which is why I used another mirror but have had same problem.

The file size is incorrect. You are definitely getting a corrupted download. No idea why....

My mistake file size is 440,477,704 bytes. Have downloaded from a third mirror and result is same install failure message.

I found some reports on google of internet explorer causing problems, so you might want to try a different browser if you were using IE.

Did another download from another mirror not using IE and again had installer failure. Used switch /NCRC although not recommended. At least the installer program started and I could proceed up to a point. Eventually I hit a corrupted file and the installation failed. Would appear to validate the installer check that causes the NSIS error in the first place. As all the suggested fixes require me to download VDrift again and the download takes some 4 hours, I have decided that unless someone can provide a solution to the problem, i.e. a guarantied to work download method &/or site, I will have to abandon the project.
