Vdift Quits without warning after window pops up... - ReCreate - 09-10-2009 I have the Windows Version of Vdrift, When I start it in windows 7, I see a Command Prompt type window and then a new windows pops up, And then it crashes, And windows 7 Just does its standard error Reporting... So i booted into XP to try it, It does the same, But instead of crashing, When the New window pops up(the window caption was SDL output or something like that) and then disappears, One thing i noticed when it was there for a split second is that it had some letters written on it, Kind of like the Vdrift Logo, I assume it is the menu or something like that, meaning that the game started right, but then went kaput and quit. Any ideas on what it could be? And is there any more information i can give you? Thanks, I finally got this game downloaded, I heard of it from so many people... ~ReCreate - joevenzon - 09-10-2009 Look for stdout.txt and stderr.txt files in the same folder as vdrift.exe. Can you post the content of those files here? - ReCreate - 09-10-2009 STDOUT.txt Code: INFO Starting VDrift 2009-06-15-full, Version , O/S Windows Code: ERROR You don't have an NVIDIA or ATI/AMD card. This game may not run correctly or at all. - joevenzon - 09-11-2009 Yeah, sorry about that, this version of phpbb doesn't have enough features to disallow link posting bbcode so I get a lot of spam unless I disable bbcode... I'm working on a fix. Anyway, this looks like you need to upgrade your video card drivers. Several other people had an almost identical problem due to bugs in the older versions of intel's graphics driver. - ReCreate - 09-11-2009 But i have the latest drivers...Is there anything else i can try? - ReCreate - 09-11-2009 No one wants to help me...oh well...i give up. - joevenzon - 09-12-2009 This is definitely a driver bug. This guy had the same exact issue with an intel gma3100 http//vdrift.net/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=1163 and intel fixed the bug in the latest driver update. This guy had the same problem with a 945M http//vdrift.net/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=1170 It may be that intel has fixed the bug in the drivers for some of their chipsets but not others. Hopefully they'll get around to it soon. For the next release I will disable strict error checking for the windows release, since intel can't write a proper driver. Sorry man. -( - joevenzon - 09-12-2009 I just checked the intel website and there are definitely updated drivers available. Based on your logs your driver is Version 1.4.0 - Build 4.14.10.4609. If you go to the intel website the latest version available is build 14.â25.â50.â4764 http//downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=12536&ProdId=1862&lang=eng Not sure if the newer driver has fixed the bug, but it's worth a try. - ReCreate - 09-13-2009 Well...I tired to install that...It appears to be the correct driver Yet it tells me that Quote:The Driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Is there a way to force that thing to install the driver? Because it seems that the driver did not pass the validation test, But then again, No driver i have ever worked with ever did pass the test... - ReCreate - 09-21-2009 Nearly a month, and nothing, That's it i give up. - joevenzon - 09-21-2009 No idea why it's not letting you install the newer drivers. If you're able to figure it out that would probably fix the problem. If not, the next VDrift release should also fix the problem by ignoring the error when it occurs. |
