How to run on Windows XP...the easy way?! - carbonfibreguy - 09-07-2009
Well this is embarrassing but unfortunately I'm not a gamer of the highest caliber, but maybe some of you are and maybe you might want to save another soul from going mad and trowing away my computer. Errrrr....anyways I'm new here, and although I've heard of vDrift for a long time, I didnt know it was free. Anyways I've downloaded it for XP and cant get it to run, and that I've just heard the news that I have to use cygwin, which I don't know how to use. I'm using an HP Mini 1035NR. I also accept ntebook bashing comments, as I've heard them all, like cant run spore, CSS, NFS MW, Halo, Crossfire, Halo custom edition, and Half Life 2,which on this netbook it can run just fine for the most part. So can someone shine some light on this and help me out?!

First of all you need to download the latest release and test it. It includes everything. Try it.. if you like, then download more data from svn, use cygwin and try the latest code with newest features

You don't need to use cygwin if you download the windows exe release. Latest version is here
http//downloads.sourceforge.net/vdrift/vdrift-setup-2009-06-15.exe
If you want to compile the latest development sources then you have to use cygwin or msys but not much has changed since the last release.
If you've already tried the windows exe and it doesn't work, what is the problem exactly?
