NISSAN silvia spec-R[S15]

This car is perfect.
I want [S15] to appear to a product on the next time.

My dream car could be a Ferrari F40...I have been waiting for that in Racer for ages.

Also... Opel Tigra, the old one, and the Lancia Delta Integrale HF

Hey what about some suvs? I was just thinking that if we had some Suvs like a Escalade, Explorer, Navigator etc. the game would be much better. even though t is nearly impossible to drift in these vehicles it would still be a lot of fun to drive them around! Big Grin

the mighty s13 silvia .. Big Grin or any other silvia

Is it possible to convert cars of Racer to Vdrift?

Here is a Dodge Viper RT/10:

- thelusiv - 04-03-2007

Hmmm, I don't see the link to download the car. Also it seems this site is for Live for Speed, not Racer (though the page says that the Viper's home page is the Racer web site). Even if I could download it, I'm not sure if it could be converted.

I would send your to Racer-Xtreme.com where there are usually tons of Racer cars, but it seems down. Sad

Hi,
I forgot that site requires registration to download files. You have to click "Descargar", then enter some numbers, and click "Download" to download it. The Viper there is made for Racer, as I'm currently playing it now.Smile

The weird thing is, Racer cars should be .dof format, but this Viper doesn't have any dof files in its folder. Confusedhock:

If it doesn't have .dof files, that probably means it's formatted in a way you can't extract data from it with free tools, which makes it difficult to import.

A silvia would be cool... we've got an RX7 and a Toyota Corolla, so we might as well complete the drifting trinity. ;-)

I was afraid you're going to said that.:p

How about cars from TORCS?
http://torcs.cvs.sourceforge.net/torcs/torcs/torcs/data/cars/models/viper-gts-r/
The car might need *some* rework though...

As far as I know, no one has really tried importing TORCS cars yet. It would be cool to try it out though.

A free(of charge) 3ds mesh...
http://modelsbank.3dm3.com/model439.htm

The problem is, the page stated that "Do not copy, modify, distribute or sell the whole or parts of the model above without permission of the creator. ", but the artist is unknown.

Should I contact the site admin for further license issues?

- thelusiv - 04-09-2007

Sure, go ahead and contact the admin, and try to get ahold of the original author. Let them know that it will go into a GPL game, and we'd really like to put the original model and texture into our art repository. If they're OK with others changing their model, and sharing it, then we can use it.

Looking at the screenshot of the model though, I'm thinking it looks like it's kind of high-poly, and might need some editing before it would be really optimal for use in the game. It also looks like it's textured with materials rather than UV so we'll have to redo that too (but it might not be too hard, because Blender will let you bake materials onto a UV texture now).

Also remember we'll have to write the car definition from scratch since this isn't coming from Racer or some other game where it's easy to adapt the physics stuff.

Are you willing to spend some time on this car, yochenhsieh?

torcs body's are saved in ac3d format it is easy to work with, i think blender will even open it.
il help with .car file if ya need it!

- thelusiv - 04-10-2007

Oh, I thought you were talking about the model you linked to. The TORCS Viper would probably be a lot easier to work from. Feel free to work on this, and let us know how it goes, or if you need any help.
