Version - latest svn.
I've tried to edit joystick controls and got:
error loading texture file "skins/x1/textures/widgets/controls/key_sel.png"...
error loading texture file "skins/x1/textures/widgets/controls/joy_axis_sel.png"...
error loading texture file "skins/x1/textures/widgets/controls/joy_btn_sel.png"...
error loading texture file "skins/x1/textures/widgets/controls/mouse_sel.png"...
couldn't find page EditJoyAxisControl
couldn't find page EditKeyboardControl
couldn't find page EditJoyButtonControl

The x1 skin is incomplete. We keep adding things to the menus but not updating it. It will get updated right before the release (I got tired of copying every little change over and over). Switch back to the simple skin for now.
