autoshift update, testers are welcome - NaN - 01-22-2010 I committed some autoshift modifications into trunk. So please checkout, compile and report. ![]() Changes: - autoshift now uses the first gear too - manual downshift into neutral, reverse works - downshift target rpm is 0.75*redline(rpm after downshift is going to be 0.75*redline) - nomoo - 01-22-2010 Good job! Tested for 5 mins, it works good. I don''t know is it a bug or feature: in rev gear when you get engine to redline gearbox sets 1st gear. - NaN - 01-22-2010 Thanks, nomoo! AutoShift simply shifts up on redline. Will fix it asap. PS: I also have been thinking about enabling throttle control at start(during countdown). - portets - 01-22-2010 i did an svn update and rebuilt, but everything is still the same.. :/ - NaN - 01-23-2010 @portets: Are you sure you are running the fresh compiled vdrift executable? Check its timestamp. - portets - 01-23-2010 aww. how embarrassing. haha. thanks. dealing with all these games from svn's it gets hard to remember where each one puts it's executable. and i haven't compiled from svn for vdrift in forever.. but yeah, thanks for giving us a downshift into 1st. but i'm most happy about being able to shift into reverse now! ![]() no bugs spotted yet - Adam_Dunn - 01-23-2010 Bring up the in-game menu, then resume game (in other words, hit escape key twice), and the car is shifted into first gear. If the car is already going fairly fast, then the clutch is automatically engaged, since engine revs can't match wheels in 1st gear at that speed. It also won't let you shift up manually, so you have to brake until you are going slow enough to shift into 2nd gear. Tested with CS and CT in svn rev 2558. - portets - 01-23-2010 i can replicate the above bug. but also, any time you downshift while going too fast for the lower gear it get's stuck on redline and you can't shift to any other gear. you have to hit the brake in order to shift - NaN - 01-24-2010 Thanks a lot, adam and portets! If autoshift is set first gear is engaged. Will happen if you start/resume the game. If engine rpm is lower than clutch(driveshaft/wheels) rpm at gear shift, clutch is kept disengaged and throttle opened. The gear shift is delayed until engine rpm matches clutch rpm. Will fix asap. edit: fixed in 2561 - portets - 01-24-2010 thanks NaN! everything seems to be working good. i'll be on the lookout for bugs ![]() - portets - 01-27-2010 i've notice that cars now stutter in rpm's before shifting gears. tested on F1-02, G4, XS. but maybe vdrift was always like this? i'm not sure if this is anything new. - NaN - 01-27-2010 The throttle was cut at upshift. Changed to half throttle in current version. Should be more pleasing. I've also enabled controls at race start. So more racing like starts are possible now  - NaN - 01-27-2010 With the latest changes(autoshift is using driveshaft rpm now to determine the moment to shift). I have noticed a slipping clutch on 911(CS) and Cobra(CO). You might observe it at/before autoshifts from 3 to 4, 4 to 5 gear. The engine rpm are above redline, the driveshaft rpm are below => no gear shift. Anyone to fix the car settings? - joevenzon - 01-29-2010 I finally got a chance to try this out, nice work! It's very smooth, and it sounds like you fixed some additional bugs that were probably pre-existing. |
