Yeah, ignore the map for now. I'm not going to trace out the whole track until I need to, so the map will look weird and incomplete.

You're right; I had the drag set incorrectly. This is fixed in R91.

- joevenzon - 10-02-2007

I scaled down the track to something that seems a bit more reasonable to me in R92.

- cotharyus - 10-02-2007

Joe, the scale is almost perfect - could I talk you into it being a little longer? The start/finish straight is supposed to be a monster. Next.....how hard can we make this on you....I apologize ahead of time - I'd like to bank *all* of the hard turns. I don't mean a little - I mean almost Monza banking banked. And double the elevation changes on those hills, they feel....whimpy. And Joe? Thanks.

- joevenzon - 10-03-2007

I doubled the elevation changes and tried banking all of the turns. Now, I haven't done this before, so this is a first cut. Most of them probably aren't as banked as you want, and some might be too banked. Let me know what you think. It's in SVN as R96.

- cotharyus - 10-04-2007

Actually, the banking wasn't what I wanted. But..it turns out it's nice. Can we see the track about 25% wider? If that looks good, we can set the track layout, and start work on the rest of the scenery.

- joevenzon - 10-04-2007

Okay, 25% wider in R97.

- xTs - 10-05-2007

Oh, i already love this track!

Can you put a mountain in the middle of the track? And make this a track around it? Wink
(oh and a tunnel would be nice, too... hehe)

- cotharyus - 10-06-2007

That's beautiful. When you trace it to take out the little jitters, will it make the transitions for the hills a little less abrupt or is it going to require a little touching up to do that? Because the transitions could stand to be a little less abrupt. Otherwise, cut, print, wrap. All wee need is scenery.

- joevenzon - 10-06-2007

What do you mean by transitions for the hills?

- cotharyus - 10-06-2007

When you go from flat to inclined or inclined to flat, the transition doesn't seem to "roll", it seems more like theres a single point the road has pivoted on to change it's incline. Does that make more sense?

- joevenzon - 10-06-2007

Ah, I see. Yeah, I think that'll be fixed by tracing the outline.

- cotharyus - 10-07-2007

Than as far as I'm concerned, you're good to go. Trace it and see what we come up with.

If you haven't seen it, you should. It's a beautiful track, and I wouldn't mind seeing it in the game.

i've got permission from tantra to convert the track so i've checked it in the svn repository. enjoy.

That's a fun track. Alex, any chance you could get tantra to release it under a creative commons license that allows derivative works? I'd love to spruce up the textures a bit and then include it in the next release as the "golden track." For that matter, can you think of any other original tracks that would be good candidates? I'm never going to be able to finish "indian hill" by myself... I'm just not a good enough modeler.
